I live near the Mabe Playground and the Village Green. All day long, I watch moms, nannies and church daycare workers jaywalk with small children across Elm Street in the middle of the block between Broad Street and Morris Avenue to get to and from the mid-block entrance to the playground. The street is parked solid with cars during the week so drivers have little chance to see pedestrians until they are right on top of them. It’s a long block that I think could be made much safer for pedestrians with the addition of a mid-block crosswalk leading to the playground.
